The Master of Science (M.S.) in Economics program has two primary goals: (1) Equipping students with analytical and research expertise for careers across business, government, and nonprofit sectors, and (2) preparing candidates for advanced doctoral studies in economics or related disciplines.
The program offers four specialized tracks:
General econometrics
Health economics
Ph.D. preparation
Monetary and financial economics
While there's significant curriculum overlap among the four tracks, students must choose their specialization before enrollment. Our STEM-designated M.S. in Economics caters to two groups: those seeking it as a final degree and those using it as preparation for further graduate work. As a terminal degree, it develops analytical and quantitative competencies for careers in various sectors. For those pursuing advanced studies, it provides essential skills for Ph.D. programs in Economics or strengthens doctoral work in business, finance, law, urban planning, or public policy.
