The Graduate Certificate in Translation Studies is an 18-credit graduate program consisting of six courses. These include two foundational courses covering translation history, theory, and computer-assisted translation tools, plus two language-specific translation classes (Spanish, French, or German), a linguistics course, and a culminating internship or independent project.
Growing international business, legal interactions, and shifting U.S. population trends have created significant need for translation expertise across multiple sectors, particularly in education, healthcare, legal, and technical fields. There's currently a severe shortage of qualified translators to meet this rising demand.
This graduate certificate expands upon existing undergraduate translation courses taught by faculty specialists, responding to the growing need for professionally certified translation experts and academic professionals.
The program provides specialized training for earning a Graduate Certificate in Translation Studies, with optional interpreting coursework also available.
