The American Philosophy Certificate offers students a one-year intensive study program at a globally recognized institution for exploring American philosophy, with particular emphasis on Charles Sanders Peirce's work. IUPUI hosts the Institute for American Thought, which oversees the Peirce Edition Project, the Santayana Edition, the Josiah Royce Papers, and the Max H. Fisch Library.

With three major scholarly initiatives dedicated to publishing the works of significant American philosophers—the Peirce Edition Project, Santayana Edition, and Josiah Royce Papers—IUPUI boasts exceptional resources in American philosophy and a strong faculty concentration in this field.

The Max H. Fisch Library serves as a specialized, non-circulating research center focused on American philosophy and related materials crucial for deeper philosophical understanding. It draws numerous visiting scholars annually, along with graduate students from other universities working on their theses or doctoral dissertations.
