The Epidemiology PhD program at IU's Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health prepares graduate students for advanced study of health patterns across populations, disease occurrences, and the evaluation of health determinants and disease risks.
We equip students to emerge as research leaders in academic institutions, government agencies, NGOs, and corporate environments.
Our graduates gain expertise in designing epidemiological studies and effectively communicating their discoveries to various stakeholders - from medical researchers and public health officials to policymakers, healthcare providers, and community members.
This 90-credit doctoral program offers flexible full-time or part-time enrollment. Exceptional full-time candidates may qualify for scholarships, traineeships, and fellowship opportunities. The program fosters academic growth through collaborative research, public health initiatives, and a dedication to inclusive excellence.
Admission into the Epidemiology PhD Program is based on completion of a baccalaureate degree, although it is anticipated that many applicants will have completed a post baccalaureate degree in public health or other health related discipline.
All non-native speakers of English must also submit proof of English proficiency unless the applicant has a Bachelor's degree or higher from the US or a predominantly English-speaking country.
