The Medical Humanities and Health Studies (MHHS) program provides an interdisciplinary education that equips undergraduate students to comprehend the wider influences and factors shaping health and medicine in contemporary society.
Students can earn either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science through this program.
Humanities classes explore how individuals experience health, medical treatment, disease, and mortality, whereas social science courses examine the societal, economic, and cultural dimensions of health, illness, and healthcare systems. Learners gain from the extensive expertise of faculty in the School of Liberal Arts and throughout IUPUI, who possess deep teaching and research commitments in healthcare fields.
An MHHS education serves as a strong foundation for students entering diverse career paths, spanning social/economic research, medical fields, dental professions, health law, medical social services, nursing, public health initiatives, and policy analysis. Alumni have progressed to advanced studies in pharmacy, medical school, occupational therapy, and other health-related disciplines, as well as law school and graduate programs.
