Paralegals are assuming a growing role in the legal field, performing essential research and support tasks for lawyers.
The Law in Liberal Arts program, provided by the Political Science Department, merges an undergraduate degree with a Paralegal Studies certificate. This dual qualification is widely regarded as valuable training for aspiring legal professionals, equipping students with fundamental knowledge across key legal areas including litigation, property law, contracts, bankruptcy, and family law.
A practical advantage of the program is that all courses are instructed by active attorneys who have direct experience working with paralegals.
This curriculum holds accreditation from the American Bar Association. Important: Paralegals cannot offer legal services directly to clients unless authorized by legal statutes.
Students must have earned a diploma from an accredited high school before you enroll at IUPUI.
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS
Students scoring TOEFL 60+ or IELTS 5.5+ are eligible for admission but should anticipate taking additional English for Academic Purposes courses along with their academic program.
