Qualification Requirements

A goal statement. In two to three double-spaced pages, summarize your relevant education and work experience and answer these two questions:
Why do you want to earn a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision? (career goals)
Why are you interested in IUP's PhD program?
Academic writing sample. You have a choice. Submit a research paper from your master's program. Or, write a research paper on a contemporary topic in the field of counseling. This paper should use the current APA format and be five to seven double-spaced pages.
Transcripts from your master's degree (GPA of 3.5 or better).
Resume/vitae
Two letters of recommendation.
All international students must have their official transcripts from non-US universities reviewed by an external educational credential evaluation organization, such as World Education Services or another member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services foreign educational credential evaluation services. Candidates must submit course-by-course evaluations of their degree(s).

International students must send official transcripts directly to the educational credential evaluation organization for review. This evaluation process can take three to six weeks, and costs associated with the evaluation are the student's responsibility. IUP cannot forward official transcripts to educational credential evaluation organizations.
