Anthropologists aim to comprehend human nature, exploring our origins, differences, and shared traits. This is achieved by examining our evolutionary journey, historical societal developments, and the rich tapestry of cultural expressions worldwide.
Beyond gaining a distinctive perspective on humanity, anthropologists acquire highly sought-after professional skills. Forensic anthropologists specialize in lab-based human remains identification, archaeologists master techniques for analyzing ancient artifacts in compliance with regulations, while cultural anthropologists develop expertise in community engagement and collaboration with organizations addressing social and environmental challenges. The Anthropology BA program offers comprehensive training across four key subfields: sociocultural, biological, linguistic, and archaeological anthropology.
At IUP's Anthropology Department, our curriculum equips students with practical knowledge and hands-on experience to apply their degree immediately after graduation. Alumni have pursued diverse careers such as healthcare specialists, primate researchers, and policy analysts. The Anthropology BA also opens doors to opportunities in global commerce, documentary production, and museum management.
