This cross-disciplinary program, offered jointly with the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, enables you to enhance your abilities and understanding to supplement your current educational background, readying you for careers in news organizations and creative environments that value data science proficiency and numerical literacy alongside storytelling and concept development. Similar to other Media School journalism programs, IU's data journalism maintains a robust focus on writing and visual storytelling. You'll undertake at least one internship during this program, with faculty support to jumpstart your professional journey. This specialization provides sought-after competencies that distinguish you in the field. Whether pursuing roles as an investigative journalist, data specialist, or interactive content creator, you'll acquire the analytical tools to present data-driven stories thoroughly and responsibly.

At least a B (3.0) average in the major over the last two years of an undergraduate program, or professional equivalency.
GRE scores from the last 5 years.
