The Department of Journalism and Creative Media provides a Master of Arts program focused on Journalism & Media Studies. Students collaborate with faculty who are committed to upholding journalistic integrity, effective mass communication, and academic research.
All graduate students in Journalism & Media Studies must fulfill 31 credit hours, choosing between two study paths:
Plan I - Thesis option (On-campus, mandatory for all). This research-focused path enables students to critically examine journalism through multiple academic lenses. The curriculum investigates news media's societal impact, audience influence, decision-making factors, journalism history, and its legal/ethical dimensions. This flexible two-year program includes 12 elective credits that can be applied across various fields.

Qualification Requirements

Each international applicant must hold the equivalent of a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited institution to be eligible for graduate admission. While individual departments may have more stringent requirements, bachelor degrees from Bologna Accord certified institutions are considered to meet this criterion. We do also consider Indian three-year degrees to be equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree.

TOEFL : The minimum score for admission to a degree program or for non-degree admission is 79 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT).
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): The minimum score for admission to a degree program or for non-degree admission is 6.5.
TOEFL paper-based score of 550 and above
