The Master's program in Russian and East European History caters to students passionate about these regions who may lack proficiency in the required languages or comprehensive knowledge to pursue a PhD in Russian/East European history or related fields like anthropology and political science. The curriculum integrates intensive language training (available through IU's summer and academic year programs) with historical studies and interdisciplinary coursework focused on the region. Over two years, students can complete up to four language levels while engaging with history courses and complementary disciplines. Graduates will gain both linguistic competence in key research languages and deeper insights into the historical, political, and cultural landscapes of Russia and Eastern Europe.
