This Master of Arts program offers flexibility for diverse academic pursuits, including theoretical and historical linguistics, philology and medieval studies (through the Medieval Studies Institute), as well as contemporary literature and cultural studies. The curriculum equips graduates for doctoral-level studies within our Ph.D. programs while also functioning as a complete terminal degree for those with different professional aspirations, such as teaching at secondary or community college levels.

The Department of Germanic Studies seeks to admit outstanding students who have completed a B.A. or the equivalent, and who show potential for successful work at the graduate level.
