This program emphasizes how bioinformatics is transforming the future. Discover bioinformatics' real-world impact and witness its practical applications, including sequence pattern analysis, genomic comparisons, structural genomics, DNA fragment assembly, systems biology, evolutionary modeling, molecular simulations, and pharmaceutical development. The curriculum equips students to excel as leading academic researchers or skilled bioinformatics practitioners, offering collaborative research opportunities with Indiana University faculty, partner institutions, research facilities, and industry partners.
All applicants must have a minimum of a four-year bachelor’s degree. To apply to the Informatics Department, applicants need to complete and submit an online application. Along with the online application, the following supporting materials are required: statement of purpose, resume/CV, three (3) letters of recommendation, transcripts and degree certificates, GRE scores (within five years of application), TOEFL scores (required for international students, must be taken within two years of application).
Applicants whose native language is not English should submit proof of such proficiency by the time they apply for admission. Normally this is done by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Results of this test should be submitted as part of the application for admission.
