This program is ideal for science educators holding a master's degree who wish to further enhance their expertise. The 60-credit curriculum focuses on preparing practitioners, enabling participants to implement research-backed theories in real-world scenarios involving teacher education and children's scientific understanding. Additionally, students can expand their specialization through advanced science courses. Prior to starting dissertation work, candidates must successfully complete a qualifying assessment consisting of a portfolio review and oral defense.
A baccalaureate (bachelor’s) degree, requiring four years of full-time study or equivalent, from a college or university holding full regional or national accreditation, is required for admission to all graduate programs. Applicants with a bachelor's degree from an institution holding only state accreditation may be granted conditional admission if their other application credentials are strong. Applicants in the last semester of a four-year undergraduate program may be granted conditional admission until such time as the baccalaureate degree has been awarded.
