The Bachelor of Arts in theatre and drama provides a program grounded in the principle that practical stage work and academic study hold equal importance and enhance each other. The curriculum covers acting, directing, dramatic literature, theatre history, playwriting, design, and technical theatre - all interconnected components that equip students with analytical, production, and performance abilities. Theatre history and dramatic literature classes offer theoretical frameworks that broaden students' comprehension of the art form. Practical courses in production and performance provide direct involvement in theatrical creation. The Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance at Indiana University equips students for professional paths in a society where arts and humanities play growing roles in education, entertainment, and cultural enrichment.
