Human activities are now the primary force shaping global atmospheric and land surface conditions, triggering extraordinary environmental transformations. The Climate and Environmental Change program focuses on analyzing these dynamics and their effects on ecosystems and human communities. Our approach combines instrument readings, satellite imagery, field data, and computer simulations to examine historical patterns and forecast future scenarios. Indiana University provides exceptional technological infrastructure, featuring high-speed networks, advanced supercomputers, and extensive data storage - all accessible to students and faculty. Specialized laboratories support our climate research initiatives, while cutting-edge field equipment enables comprehensive studies. The department collaborates with the AmeriFlux network through a fully equipped research tower. Geography graduate students and qualified undergraduates regularly contribute to faculty-led research projects supported by major agencies (NSF, NASA, NOAA, USDA, DOE) and co-author publications in top academic journals.
