Students from diverse backgrounds will examine Jewish culture, tracing its development and manifestations from ancient biblical eras to modern times. They'll gain insights into pivotal events that shaped Christianity and Islam, along with significant cultural and historical moments across the Middle East, Europe, and America. The Jewish Studies program allows students to tailor their coursework to align with personal interests. Majors are particularly encouraged to spend a semester or full junior year at The Hebrew University's Rothberg International School in Jerusalem (an IU Overseas Study partnership), which provides substantial scholarships for study in Israel. This interdisciplinary degree complements other majors well and opens doors to numerous career opportunities, including professional fields like law, medicine, and business, as well as public administration, government, non-profits, education, community service, diplomacy, religious leadership, and graduate studies in religion, international relations, history, languages, and social work.
