The public administration program operates as a partially independent division under the political science department, collaborating with faculty and sharing resources within ISU's School of Arts and Sciences. With roots tracing back decades, the program introduced its Master of Public Administration (MPA) in 1976. Since then, it has consistently supported the university community, students, and the broader Terre Haute region, Vigo County, and southern Indiana. Among its accomplished graduates is a past U.S. Congress representative. The program provides one advanced degree option—the MPA—alongside two online certificate programs requiring 12 credit hours each: a graduate certificate in public administration and another in public personnel administration.
