The Neuroscience and Physiology (NP) group consists of students, post-doctoral researchers, and faculty who take a unified approach to studying these interconnected disciplines. Neuroscience explores the neural foundations of behavior, while Physiology examines biological functions across organisms. Our research covers multiple biological scales, from genetic and molecular levels to cellular systems, tissues, neural circuits, and animal behavior. We utilize diverse methodologies, including genetic manipulation, molecular analysis, cellular studies, and whole-organism techniques like microelectrode recordings, microscopy, optical imaging, EEG, computational modeling, and behavioral assessment. Current investigations address core questions in molecular neuroethology, cellular/systems/human neuroscience, and cellular/transport physiology. This sequence serves as a specialization for Ph.D. candidates in Biological Sciences, delivering an extensive educational program for those pursuing Neuroscience and Physiology. These sequences foster a dynamic learning atmosphere that merges cutting-edge research with dedicated teaching, all while maintaining close ties to laboratory investigations.
