The Master of Landscape Architecture and Urbanism program is an innovative urban initiative built on three core tenets: fostering fair global urban expansion, promoting cross-disciplinary teamwork, and enhancing urban landscape theory through both research and application. M.L.A.U students explore intricate socio-environmental issues using creative problem-solving and cutting-edge technological approaches. Being Chicago's sole accredited landscape architecture program and one of few in major North American cities, we're exceptionally equipped to address these urban complexities.
Our program intensifies this urban focus with coursework examining crucial 21st-century landscape architecture issues: how technological advances influence urban design, emerging transportation networks, redeveloping industrial areas, water management, climate adaptation, social justice, accelerated urban growth, and essential community spaces. Our LAAB-accredited, STEM-certified curriculum develops technically proficient and conceptually agile design professionals who pursue these goals worldwide.
