The accelerated Bachelor of Science in Forensic Chemistry combined with a Master of Science in Chemistry provides a distinctive academic pathway to equip you for careers in forensic science, medical forensics, drug analysis, toxicology, DNA examination, or criminal investigation through intensive chemistry-focused forensic studies. Illinois Tech stands as the sole Chicago-region university providing an undergraduate forensic chemistry program.

Students develop robust expertise in conventional chemistry alongside specialized training in chemical, biochemical, and instrumental methods for analyzing, identifying, and characterizing forensic materials and regulated substances. The program prepares you in chemical sciences and analytical techniques for forensic applications. Practical learning experiences include collaborating with chemistry professors on projects like bioterrorism chemical detection research, nanopore system simulations, nanomaterial-based fingerprint identification, and forensic analysis using atomic force microscopy. The Chemistry M.S. component expands your understanding through advanced study in physical, polymer, organic, inorganic, analytical, and biological chemistry research areas.

Qualification Requirements

International First-Year Students (Freshmen) students who have not enrolled in post-secondary education after completion from secondary school/high school

First-year applicants are currently enrolled in secondary school, or have completed secondary school and have not attended an institute of higher education outside of their secondary school experience.

This includes students who have taken A-levels or studied in an Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, as long as they have not completed university coursework. Sometimes these students are also referred to as freshmen, regardless of their class standing upon entering the university.
Submit official or certified copies of the marks or grades of courses completed prior to university or college entrance, as well as all board examination scores. In cases where official transcripts are not issued in English, you must submit the official native language transcript along with a certified translated English version.
Official SAT and ACT Test Scores (Optional): Submission of standardized test scores is optional for admission. This policy applies to all first-year, transfer, and international applicants and all merit scholarship considerations.
Submit letter of recommendations (Optional): International first-year students applying as part of Early Decision and Early Action must submit at least one or up to three letter(s) of recommendations.
