This program is designed for students pursuing careers as political science educators across higher education institutions, from community colleges to universities. Graduates earning a Doctor of Arts degree will be qualified to teach diverse political science subjects, with a focus on American politics plus two specialized areas chosen from public law, political theory, comparative/international politics, or public administration. The program offers three interdisciplinary pathways for doctoral candidates. All students must complete coursework in American politics as their primary field, along with two secondary fields from the aforementioned options. The curriculum emphasizes interdisciplinary learning, incorporating related social science disciplines. Participants will receive comprehensive pedagogical training, develop personalized teaching philosophies, and master various instructional methods. Students will showcase their research capabilities through conference presentations and potential academic publications. The program prepares graduates for successful careers in higher education settings.
