Below is a recommended sequence for completing the necessary science courses. Those choosing an alternative path should verify they meet all course prerequisites. Since many courses have specific prerequisite chains, significant deviations from this timeline may extend the time needed to earn the degree. Chemistry BS candidates must fulfill 8 out of 9 General Education Objectives (minimum 36 credits - refer to the General Education Requirements in the Academic Information catalog section). First-year students should complete ENGL 1101 or ENGL 1101P and COMM 1101, with ENGL 1102 finished by sophomore year. (ENGL 1101/1101P plus ENGL 1102 satisfies Objective 1; COMM 1101 fulfills Objective 2.) Students should complete the math requirement (Objective 3) through MATH 1170 and MATH 1175 as soon as possible.
