A chemistry degree provides a strong base for diverse scientific, professional, and business paths, spanning fields like agricultural chemistry, biochemistry, forensic science, materials science, medicine, patent law, renewable energy, and veterinary medicine, among others. Students should consult with an academic advisor to tailor their coursework to align with their professional aspirations.
Every Chemistry student starts in the Comprehensive Chemistry track, offering an intensive curriculum with advanced training in analytical, organic, and physical chemistry. After their first year, those pursuing a Bachelor of Science in the College of Agricultural, Life, and Physical Sciences can either continue with Comprehensive Chemistry or switch to specialized tracks such as Biochemistry, Environmental Chemistry, or Forensic Chemistry.
While not mandatory for graduate programs or chemistry careers, students are advised to consider American Chemical Society certification. Those completing an honors thesis may qualify for Chemistry Honors recognition.
