The Bachelor of Music (performance) program prepares students for graduate studies or professional performance careers. Music performance majors can specialize in voice, piano, guitar, strings, woodwinds, brass, or percussion. The School of Performing Arts combines music, theater, and dance disciplines, committed to delivering top-tier education and performance opportunities. The Music Department provides degree programs including Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music in Commercial Music, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Music Education, and Master of Education in Music Education. Music majors engage in coursework that builds a strong cultural foundation for careers in teaching, performance, audio technology, production, graduate studies, and other music-related fields. All university students can join various music ensembles such as Wind Ensemble/Symphonic Band, Marching Band/Basketball Band, Idaho State-Civic Symphony, Chamber Orchestra, Chamber/Concert Choir, Opera Workshop, Jazz Big Band, Video Game Music Ensemble, and diverse chamber groups for woodwind, brass, percussion, string, vocal, and keyboard performers. At ISU's music department, students gain extensive experience working with passionate faculty and guest artists in the renowned L. E. and Thelma E. Qualification Requirements

Freshman applicants must submit official secondary school mark sheets and diploma. All documents must be originals or copies certified by the school principal or controller of examinations and sealed in a school envelope. Documents not in English must be translated by a certified translator. If your first language is not English, official English proficiency scores must be submitted directly to the International Programs Office from the testing center. To be considered for admission to ISU, international students applying as new undergraduates must meet the following academic requirements:
Have graduated from a high school or secondary school with satisfactory grades, received a diploma or certificate of graduation, and be eligible for admission to a major university in the country from which they graduated. An overall accumulative grade point average of 2.0 for all University courses is required for graduation. The Music Department requires a Music GPA of 2.5 as a standard for graduation.
