The Global Studies Program provides a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with an interdisciplinary approach. This program enables students to examine diverse global cultures, languages, societies, and political systems while completing foundational coursework in language studies, economics, international relations, global institutions, and human rights. A minor option is available as well.
Students in the Global Studies Program gain broad knowledge of language, culture, economics, and politics while specializing in one of three tracks: Political and Economic Development, Language and Cultural Studies, or U.S. and Global Relations (refer to the ISU Event Calendar for details on the Frank Church Symposium, special seminars, and study abroad programs). The Language and Cultural Studies concentration allows for focused regional studies, emphasizing language proficiency, literary works, historical context, and cultural understanding in French, German, Japanese, Russian, or Spanish. This specialization prepares graduates for careers in diplomacy, international public service, global development, or teaching.
