Through intimate seminar-style courses, we guide students in mastering both written and spoken French while developing an appreciation for the diverse cultures of French-speaking communities across history and today.

Beyond classroom learning, we curate lecture series, film screenings, and bring visiting scholars and artists from Francophone nations worldwide. Studying abroad is strongly encouraged.

Since all instruction occurs in French, we provide multi-level language training customized to individual proficiency, including personalized coaching within each course.

We specialize in crafting personalized academic paths that align with each student's talents, goals, and ambitions—many choose to combine their studies with a second major. Our interdisciplinary Romance Studies program features faculty collaborations across departments. Montreal's nearby location offers convenient opportunities for immersive French-language weekends.

Boston itself serves as an extended classroom and vibrant hub of French culture, hosting the French Consulate General and the French Library and Cultural Center. These institutions provide abundant cultural experiences including performances, cinema, theater productions, and French-language social gatherings.
