The Civil Engineering Technology program is offered by Idaho State University's College of Technology. It collaborates with Idaho Career & Technical Education and has received approval from the State Board of Education. Upon completing the program, graduates will be prepared to: 1. Secure employment as professional Surveying Technicians, Drafters, Designers, or Laboratory and Field-Testing Technicians in Civil Engineering or Public Works sectors. 2. Execute land and construction surveying duties using up-to-date surveying tools, technologies, and computer-aided drafting systems for diverse projects. 3. Conduct testing and inspection of construction materials and procedures in both laboratory and field settings to ensure adherence to project plans and specifications.
Graduates will acquire the following competencies - 1. The capability to utilize knowledge, methods, skills, and contemporary tools in mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to address clearly defined engineering challenges relevant to the field; 2. The ability to devise solutions for well-defined technical issues and support the engineering design of systems, components, or processes within the discipline; 3. Proficiency in written, oral, and visual communication in both technical and non-technical contexts; and the skill to locate and apply appropriate technical resources.
