Mechanical engineers utilize mechanics and energy principles to create machinery and equipment. They play a key role in designing systems including renewable energy technologies like wind and solar devices, electricity-generating turbines, medical prosthetics and artificial limbs, automated entry systems, and athletic gear such as running shoes and golf equipment. Our curriculum equips students to become significant innovators and designers in fields ranging from nanotechnology and automotive manufacturing to aerospace engineering and climate control systems.
Energy Systems employ reciprocating and rotating engines that harness combustion gases, steam pressure, or nuclear and solar energy to produce mechanical power transmitted through rotating shafts. This rotational energy can either generate electricity in power stations or propel ground vehicles through wheel drives and aircraft through propellers and turbine blades.
