The objectives of the three Bachelor of Science programs—computer engineering, computer science, and electrical engineering—are to ready students for professional entry; to instill the competencies demanded by the field, the awareness of the need to advance the discipline, and the commitment to lifelong learning; and to provide students with broad technical and non-technical knowledge, preparing them for additional studies in areas such as professional and graduate education. These Bachelor of Science programs are structured around a sequence of integrated courses. Students progress through the curriculum in a step-by-step fashion, guided by prerequisite and corequisite courses outlined in the showcase curricula. These progressively developed programs are distinguished by the methodical incorporation of the design process starting in the second year. The department provides a concentration for undergraduate students interested in power systems and power electronics. This concentration organizes existing courses to give students a comprehensive focus on control systems, operations, planning, system components, power electronics, and circuits.
