The Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (BSChE) program holds accreditation from ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission (visit www.abet.org). To earn the BSChE degree, students must complete at least 120 credit hours, comprising 62 credits in Mathematics & Sciences/Humanities & Social Sciences, 52 engineering credits, one 3-credit engineering elective, and a 3-credit science/engineering elective course.
Through elective tracks and faculty advising, students can focus their studies in these specialized areas: (1) Environmental Protection and Hazardous Waste Management, (2) Biotechnology and Biomedical Applications, and (3) Nanotechnology. Detailed descriptions:
Environmental Protection and Hazardous Waste Treatment: Chemical engineers employ chemical processes to extract dangerous substances from landfill sites, utilizing microbial organisms and combustion methods to eliminate hazardous materials. They design catalytic systems that transform harmful air and water contaminants into safe substances.
