The JD/MPH dual-degree program is a collaborative initiative between the Maurice A. Deane School of Law and the School of Health Professions and Human Services. With legal frameworks and policy reforms playing a growing role in enhancing public health outcomes, JD/MPH students will explore the intersection of legal systems and healthcare delivery, concentrating on population health challenges.
Public health represents a multidisciplinary approach aimed at preventing disease, injury, and premature mortality while enhancing wellness and longevity across communities and populations. The MPH curriculum equips students with theoretical knowledge and practical research methodologies to advance community and population health. Students learn to perform rigorous health studies, engage in vital public service projects, and effectively translate research findings into behavioral change and policy reform. Hofstra University's MPH program acknowledges its responsibility in addressing local health needs while contributing to global public health discussions. JD/MPH candidates will synthesize legal and public health perspectives through integrated coursework and practical internships that bridge these disciplines. This comprehensive program generally requires four years to finish.
