This program equips students to work as psychology professionals serving schools and community health organizations. The curriculum focuses on developing psychologists as consultants who drive transformation in educational and community environments, while also delivering psychological care to individuals and families. School-community psychology practice encompasses evaluation, treatment, strategic planning, and preventive measures across diverse settings including public schools, special education programs, senior care centers, veterans services, homeless shelters, law enforcement agencies, disability support facilities, and addiction treatment centers. The program welcomes both entry-level students holding bachelor's degrees and advanced students with master's degrees in school psychology. Bachelor's degree entrants follow a comprehensive 100-credit full-time curriculum, while master's degree holders may choose full- or part-time study with customized credit requirements based on transcript evaluation.
All participants must fulfill a year-long internship and practical training components. Numerous school and community partners provide training opportunities. Additionally, candidates must complete a doctoral dissertation exploring topics within school-community psychology. Faculty members bring specialized knowledge in various areas including childhood/adult behavioral issues, trauma-related disorders, addiction studies, forensic psychology, homelessness research, educational psychology, gifted education, immigration adaptation, and cross-cultural studies.
