The BS/MA program combines classroom learning with hands-on training across diverse school environments, featuring full-time student teaching for the BS component and a practicum for the MA component. The curriculum weaves together literacy, multicultural education, and technology across all program elements. It aligns with New York State's Early Childhood and Childhood Education Learning Standards. Graduates who complete 150 semester hours and fulfill all requirements will earn a BS/MA degree and qualify for New York State certification in Early Childhood (B-2) and Childhood Education (1-6), while also meeting STEM specialist qualifications for Birth-Grade 6 education.
This accelerated dual-degree program spans five years, incorporating select January and Summer terms, and mandates successful completion of 150 semester hours (minimum 118 undergraduate and 32 graduate hours). MA in STEM candidates may substitute up to 9 undergraduate credit hours with equivalent graduate-level coursework toward their Early Childhood/Childhood Education: STEM master's degree.
