The BACHELOR OF ARTS IN COMPUTER SCIENCE provides students with comprehensive training in computer science fundamentals. With fewer mandatory courses in the major and increased elective options, students can explore minors or pursue a dual major across different disciplines. The program offers both a standard general pathway and a customized individual track featuring two tailored independent study courses developed jointly with faculty.
The BA in computer science features two pathways: the standard general track (I) and the personalized individual track (II).
The general track adheres to conventional computer science coursework. The individual track enables a partially customized study plan where students complete 9 semester hours of specialized independent study/senior design courses with a faculty mentor, aligning with both parties' academic interests. Beyond these 9 semester hours of personalized coursework, both tracks share identical requirements. It's important to note that while the tracks differ in approach, the degree awarded remains the same BA, with no transcript distinction between tracks.
