The HCC Sociology Associate in Arts program is designed for students aiming to earn a bachelor's degree in sociology or similar fields at a four-year institution. Sociology explores human social behavior through scientific methods. Students in this program will analyze diverse social interactions, covering topics like family dynamics, criminal behavior, cultural evolution, group dynamics involving class, race, and gender, as well as global diversity, social hierarchies, and collective activism.
Curriculum components enhance students' capacity to understand relationships between individual experiences, societal challenges, and structural frameworks. Some universities mandate prerequisite coursework for admission. Students should verify transfer requirements directly with their intended transfer institution.
To be eligible for admission to an associate degree program at HCC, applicants must have the equivalent of one of the following: high school equivalency certificate (GED), Associate or higher degree, standard high school diploma.
