Harvard Law School (HLS) and Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) provide a combined degree program focusing on law and government. This HLS/HKS interdisciplinary initiative assists students aiming for expertise in government, public policy, and legal studies while equipping them for public service leadership roles. Students in this program can earn a Juris Doctor (JD) from the Law School alongside either a Master in Public Policy (MPP) or a Master in Public Administration in International Development (MPA/ID) from the Kennedy School. A joint faculty committee from both schools supervises the program, determining its framework, prerequisites, and supporting enrolled students. This committee has authority to adjust program requirements when necessary, provided such changes align with existing HLS and HKS regulations.
Students must complete a bachelor’s degree.
