Qualification Requirements
All candidates for admission to the PhD program must have successfully completed calculus through multivariable integration and one semester of linear algebra and have knowledge of a programming language.
Candidates are encouraged to have:
- Completed courses in probability, statistics, advanced calculus or real analysis, and numerical analysis
- Practical knowledge of a statistical computing package such as SAS, S-plus, R, Stata, or SPSS
- Completed courses in biology, computational biology, and genetics (if interested in bioinformatics)
- Knowledge of a scripting language such as Python or Perl and some familiarity with relational databases (if interested in bioinformatics)
Applicants must receive a minimum score of 80 for the TOEFL, and it is not common for applicants to be admitted with TOEFL scores below 90. The minimum IELTS Academic score is 6.5. Some programs may require higher scores. Application Deadline: Dec 1.
