Harvard School of Engineering's Bioengineering program is fundamentally cross-disciplinary, uniting faculty and research facilities from various campuses and Harvard-affiliated teaching hospitals.
The field merges core engineering principles like thermodynamics and fluid dynamics with physical and life sciences, enhanced by mathematical and computational approaches. This synthesis enables us to decode biological systems and develop innovative solutions for pressing medical and biological challenges. Harvard's bioengineers are pioneering breakthroughs in areas including biologically inspired robotics, computational systems, biomechanics, cellular engineering, biomaterial development, and therapeutic innovations.
Students with bachelor’s degrees in the natural sciences, mathematics, computer science, or engineering are invited to apply for admission.
Applicants who are non-native English speakers and who received their undergraduate degree from an academic institution where English is not the primary language of instruction must prove their English proficiency by earning either a minimum score of 80 on the Internet based test (iBT) of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a minimum score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic test.
