The Cognitive Neuroscience & Evolutionary Psychology Track within Psychology is one pathway offered in the Life Sciences Cluster, designed to foster cross-disciplinary exploration in advanced life science fields. In psychology, this might involve investigating how stress hormones influence well-being and actions, exploring brain regions associated with social cognition or ethical decision-making, or using rodent models to gain insights into autism spectrum conditions. Students in this track can blend psychology classes with numerous biology-focused courses or research opportunities (typically in Human Evolutionary Biology, Neuroscience, Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Organismic and Evolutionary Biology - see approved course listings). Unlike MBB, which integrates psychology with foundational neuroscience and fields like philosophy or computer science, this track emphasizes life sciences, allowing more science courses to count toward degree requirements. Additionally, while MBB requires a thesis, the CNEP Track provides both standard and honors options, including thesis and non-thesis pathways.
