Many students discover History and Science for the first time when they come to Harvard, yet those who select this concentration often become some of the most fulfilled and versatile scholars in the College. As the sole program awarding credit for interdisciplinary courses spanning the sciences, social sciences, and humanities, we provide exceptional opportunities like museum internships, research funding through our Rosenkrantz Discovery Grants, international travel support, and the chance to contribute to the nation's premier undergraduate history of science journal. Our students explore diverse subjects across eras—from Darwin's groundbreaking theories to modern biotechnology, climate science, global health initiatives, Latin American medical history, quantum physics, healthcare disparities, digital revolutions, psychiatric developments, neuroscience breakthroughs, space exploration, and beyond. The program offers three flexible pathways: the Science and Society track blending STEM and humanities courses, the History of Science track with deeper historical focus, or specialized options in Mind/Brain/Behavior (thesis required), Medicine and Society (thesis required), and Technology/Information/Society.
