The Costume Production and Wardrobe Technician Certificate offers students a specialized curriculum that leads to professional certification and prepares them for careers as skilled technicians. After completing this program, students will demonstrate the ability to:
Interpret scripts to identify costume requirements and develop detailed costume plots for theatrical performances.
Utilize fundamental sewing skills to maintain costumes, including pre/post-show cleaning, pressing, and necessary repairs.
Implement essential wardrobe management procedures such as inventory tracking, cleaning protocols, and proper storage methods for theatrical productions.
Organize and perform rapid costume changes for performers during live shows.
Develop professional materials including resumes, portfolios, and employment strategies for costume technician roles.
Attend and critically analyze various performing arts events including theater, opera, musical performances, and dance productions through discussion and written critiques.
