The Associate in Science in Physics for Transfer (AS-T in Physics) is designed for students aiming to pursue a bachelor's degree in Physics at a California State University (CSU). Graduates with this degree are assured admission into the CSU system, though specific campuses or majors aren't guaranteed. Those transferring to a participating CSU campus will need to complete a maximum of 60 additional units to obtain their bachelor's degree. For details on university admission and transfer criteria, students should consult with an academic counselor. Aspiring candidates are advised to work with a counselor to create a tailored educational plan aligning with their objectives. Upon finishing the program, students will achieve competency in core classical physics domains (mechanics, waves, sound, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, and optics) while also gaining exposure to contemporary physics topics like special relativity, atomic physics, and nuclear physics.
This curriculum serves as the primary pathway for students transferring to a CSU. Students are highly encouraged to meet with a Golden West College counselor to establish a formal Student Educational Plan, especially if considering non-CSU institutions.
