The Music AA-T program at Golden West College equips students to transfer seamlessly to a CSU as Music Majors. Since music studies commence in the first year, candidates must fulfill all required courses and demonstrate keyboard proficiency to earn the AA-T. This program covers the initial two years of essential coursework needed at CSUs while preparing students for subject placement exams. Note that most CSUs mandate placement tests for Music Majors, regardless of AA-T completion.
Graduates of this program will gain the ability to:
Apply theoretical knowledge of diatonic and chromatic music principles through written and aural exercises.
Exhibit professional ensemble conduct, musicality, and performance skills in group settings.
Showcase advanced solo performance abilities and artistic interpretation.
Achieve proficiency in standard collegiate-level piano performance.
