The Associate in Arts for Transfer (AAT) degree in Geography explores both physical and human aspects of our world. As one of academia's most versatile fields, geography bridges social and natural sciences. The curriculum addresses critical modern challenges like climate change, environmental conservation, resource management, migration patterns, geopolitical conflicts, social justice issues, economic systems, urban growth, and cultural dynamics. Though students may later specialize, the AAT establishes core knowledge about Earth's interconnected systems and equips learners with analytical tools like Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Graduates gain the foundation needed to pursue bachelor's degrees and diverse career paths in education, urban planning, environmental analysis, geospatial technology, diplomacy, and public service.
After finishing this program, graduates will demonstrate the ability to:
Identify and locate significant human-made and natural geographic features.
Analyze spatial patterns and cause-effect relationships between human activities and natural environments.
Utilize geographic methodologies to investigate planetary systems and societal developments.
