The AA in English Creative Writing equips students with fundamental creative writing abilities. Learners will explore genres, literary theories, and cultural impacts on literature through analyzing novels, short fiction, poems, and creative nonfiction while crafting their own original pieces. The curriculum readies students for bachelor's programs in creative writing, focusing on critical analysis, literary evaluation, research methods, and writing proficiency.
A minimum of 18 units from required courses must be completed. Program Outcomes: Graduates will be capable of: examining and interpreting diverse texts and media from both modern works and classic literature, creating analytical and imaginative writing that reflects comprehension of literary principles, genres, and proper source attribution, and composing well-structured content tailored to specific purposes and readerships.
