The Master of Public Policy (M.P.P.) is a multidisciplinary degree that equips students with skills for analyzing, formulating, and assessing public policies. Across government sectors and international contexts, policymakers must balance public demands with finite resources, making decisions that are economically sound, socially impactful, technically viable, and politically feasible. These complex choices arise in crucial areas like healthcare, education, economic growth, environmental protection, international relations, nonprofit management, and fiscal policy.
Many leaders struggle to fully grasp the social, political, economic, and technical aspects of policy challenges. Consequently, government entities at all levels, businesses, and federal institutions increasingly rely on skilled policy analysts to examine alternatives and assess public initiatives. Nonprofit organizations, including healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and regional planners, similarly depend on this expertise.
M.P.P. graduates commonly secure analytical and managerial roles across government, public service, corporate, consulting, and nonprofit sectors. The Atlanta metropolitan area provides real-world learning experiences, with students encouraged to participate in fieldwork and applied research with local agencies. Additional prospects emerge through the Andrew Young School's research institutes and community engagement initiatives, which enrich academic training and frequently lead to rewarding career opportunities.
