Community Psychology focuses on using psychological principles to enhance the welfare of communities and groups. This field is distinguished by its ecological approach, emphasis on prevention, and commitment to diversity. It frequently involves action research, where theoretical knowledge is implemented in practical scenarios. Alternatively, it may involve fundamental research addressing societal issues or community dynamics. This specialization is ideal for students interested in applying psychological concepts to tackle challenges like substance abuse, housing insecurity, and aggression. The program equips graduates for advanced studies in community psychology or careers in community-focused institutions.

The Psychology Department provides a broad psychology curriculum along with specialized tracks. The general program allows greater flexibility in course selection for a psychology degree. Specialized tracks have more structured requirements, designed to align with particular professional goals. While most students opt for the general program, those aiming for graduate studies or advanced training in a concentration-related field should explore the specialized tracks.
