Seattle Central College provides a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Applied Behavioral Science, equipping students with the knowledge to emerge as leaders in human services. Launched in 2009 as the region's exclusive program of its kind, it creates opportunities for career growth and a four-year degree for those holding associate degrees in fields like Social & Human Services, Early Childhood & Family Studies, Chemical Dependency, and related disciplines, including General Transfer degrees (e.g., AA/DTA). Ideal for individuals dedicated to assisting others, addressing challenges, and driving social progress, this applied bachelor's degree opens doors to higher-level roles such as supervisory positions, project management, public policy analysis, education leadership, and directorial roles across human-centered sectors—tailored to your aspirations. Graduates gain expertise to thrive in fulfilling careers spanning Social & Human Services, Mental Health/Counseling, Substance Abuse & Rehabilitation, Youth & Family Support, Early Childhood Education/Child Welfare, and Prevention & Intervention programs.
Applicants must:
Meet a minimum requirement of a 2.5 GPA
Have completed (or will complete prior to starting BAS program) an Associate’s degree. Acceptable degrees include the following;
An AAS, AAS-T, ATA, or AAA degree in Social & Human Services, Early Childhood Education, Chemical Dependency, or a related human service degree
OR an AA/DTA degree plus 30 credits in Social & Human Services, Early Childhood Education, or Social Sciences. Note: completing these 30 credits of prerequisites does not guarantee admissions to the ABS program
