The Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.E.) for Middle Level Education equips you to teach in underserved school communities by focusing on political, historical, and cultural contexts while incorporating a strong justice and equity framework. This Middle Level Education degree is tailored for students pursuing both a bachelor's degree and initial teaching certification for grades 4-8, requiring specialization in two of these subject areas:

English Language Arts
Mathematics
Science
Social Studies
Graduates earn a B.S.E. in Middle Level Education and qualify for a renewable (T4) Induction Certificate in Georgia.

The curriculum includes specialized coursework paired with hands-on teaching practice. Our program emphasizes technology integration and provides international study options. Faculty guide students through lesson planning, teaching strategies, evaluation methods, and reflective practice alongside dedicated educators and partner schools. Students can optionally take three extra courses to earn an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) endorsement, preparing them to teach the increasing number of English learners upon graduation.

Urban communities require exceptionally qualified, empathetic, and socially conscious Middle Level educators whose expertise and teaching methods celebrate student diversity and advance educational equity.
